Learn how to create custom views and custom sorts to see only the search results information you want, displayed in the order you’re looking for. We’ll even teach you how to make one for each property type to save you time. Wish you could see this in Flexmls? Well, now you can!

Welcome to the tutorial for creating custom views in Flexmls. A view is a set of columns used to look at information on the search results screen. You can set specific columns of information in order to see the fields that are useful to you. For example, when looking at a closed listing, you might want to see the columns for closed date, closed price, and selling member.

When looking at active listings, columns like list price, bathrooms, and bedrooms may be more relevant.

To customize your views, use the menu to find and select my views. You can edit, copy, or create a new view on the my views screen. Let’s begin by creating a new view. Click new to get started. The create view screen is divided into three tabs, general, fields, and sort. The general tab contains general information about the view. Begin by entering a description of the view.

The description will serve as the name of the view, so choose a name that will make it easy to identify in a list. Next, enter a report description. The report description appears on any printed pages. Choose whether you’d like to have a thumbnail photo display on the View by selecting the yes or no option next to show photo. Choose whether you’d like the View to appear by default using the available options.

On the fields tab, set the exact columns of information you want to display in your view. Select a property type, then scroll through the available fields or begin typing in the search bar to narrow the list. Click to select a field and it will appear in the right hand column. Repeat the process as necessary until you’ve selected all of the fields you want to see. Please note that price, status, and MLS number will appear in all views.

You can rearrange the order of the fields by using your mouse to click, drag, and drop the fields into position. You can also edit the name of the field to conserve space. For example, days on market could be abbreviated as DOM. To edit a field name, click on it and a text box will open. Type to edit the field name and click done to save the new name for the field. The full field name will appear in parentheses for your reference. To delete a field, click the red x.

You also have the option to customize how the listings in your view are sorted by using the sort tab. By default, the listings will sort according to the fields you’ve chosen in column order. If you’d like to sort in a different order or by using fields that are not present in the view, select the custom sort option. Then you can choose a previously saved sort or click create a new sort.

Give your custom sort a name, then select the fields you’d like to sort by, and they will appear in the column on the right.

For each field, you can choose to sort it in ascending or descending order. Use your mouse to drag and drop the sort order for your selected fields. Click the red x to remove a field from the sort. When you’re satisfied with your selections, click save. Now, let’s take a look at our new view. To switch views on a search results screen, click on the drop down list and select your new view.

If you want to make changes to a View, including renaming the column headers, click the View link next to the drop down menu. This concludes the tutorial on Views in Flexmls. Thank you.
