Josh joined FBS in 2013 as a member of the CPR team where he enjoys working on conversions, doing member training, and documenting new features in Flexmls. Over the past 12 years he has lived in Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Washington, D.C and North Dakota. Although he recently moved to Texas, Josh considers himself an honorary southerner and enjoys attending anvil shoots, crawfish boils, and using the word y’all with impunity.

Need to search on a field that isn’t included in your default search template? Watch this quick video to learn how! And when you’re finished with the video you can take a guided tour right in Flexmls.

In this video, we’ll look at how to add a field to your search. For example, maybe I’m talking with a potential client and they’d like to look for listings that include wood decks. As I fill out my search criteria, I select the property type and put in my criteria. As I enter my criteria, I notice that there’s no option for exterior amenities and no way for me to search for wood deck. In order to add the field to my search, I go to the bottom of the search template and click in the box that says add a field to the search.

The pop up contains all of the searchable fields for this property type. I can scroll through that list, or I can stay in the search box and type in what I’m looking for. When I see the option appear, I can click to add it to the search. Now my search results contain only those listings that have wood deck marked on their input forms. I can add as many fields to the search as necessary in order to tailor it to my specific contact’s needs.

When searching, I can select specific items from the list, or if I see a group header like interior amenities, I can click on that header and add the entire group to my search template. This allows me to see all of the options in the group and select the ones I’d like to include.

This concludes our lesson on adding fields to our search template. Thank you.
